Job Description:
The Director of Global Command Center reports to the VP Global IT Operations and is responsible for establishing the Observability charter across Global IT. This position has equal focus on operational execution and transformational initiatives and requires a high degree of collaboration with other technical and business leaders to ensure our solutions are business aligned. This role ensures that day-to-day health of the Production environments is visible and well understood – enabling quick detection of incidents and proactive remediation. This includes running a 24x7 eyes-on-glass team monitoring our most critical customer user journeys. This role will also establish our AI Ops initiatives for a more automated intelligent operations paradigm. This is a critical role for increasing the overall availability and resiliency of our IT Services and this leader will have influence over the technologies and process that impact those dimensions. He / she responds to industry trends by helping business leaders facilitate the decision-making process and providing actionable recommendations on initiatives and policies to help the organization innovate and drive toward targeted business outcomes.
Strategic and Operational Planning and Execution
- Defines the HPE Global Command Center mission, vision, and strategic direction, optimizing support for both business and IT enterprise initiatives.
- Manages and oversees the annual GCC budget, ensuring alignment with IT and enterprise strategic objectives.
- Defines and executes observability technologies / processes including metrics to measure and benchmark performance.
- Provides strategic guidance and supervision throughout the entire lifecycle of IT Delivery, collaborating closely with peers to identify opportunities for enhancing reliability and automated intelligent operations.
- Balances enterprise risk and agility by offering technology recommendations to senior business and IT leaders, facilitating consensus and buy-in.
Build and Maintain Relationships
- Establishes strong relationships with key stakeholders within IT, fostering a deep understanding of application and infrastructure requirements, serving as a trusted advisor, and ensuring operational outcomes.
- Collaborates with fellow IT leaders to create an environment where knowledge and insights can be openly exchanged.
- Engages in negotiations and exercises influence with partners and service providers to secure optimal outcomes for the GCC
- Breaks down organizational barriers horizontally and vertically to cultivate the most impactful stakeholder relationships.
Drives Innovation
- Introduces innovative and distinctive observability and AI Ops solutions to enhance our competitive capabilities and boost employee productivity.
- Stays abreast of industry trends and provides guidance on integrating emerging technologies into our operations.
- Advocates for GCC team’s active participation in the global IT organization's innovation initiatives, encouraging experimentation with novel solutions to seize business opportunities.
Executes Against Business Priorities
- Collaborates with IT leaders to manage the service portfolio and governance processes for resource prioritization, including budget allocation.
- Formulates business cases that comprehensively evaluate costs and benefits, fostering collaborative decision-making.
- Conducts ongoing assessments of the business value delivered by GCC team, utilizing metrics such as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Outcome-Driven Metrics, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Promotes the adoption and commitment to service improvements through a systematic approach to continuous enhancement, measuring the impact and sharing the achieved results.
