Job Description and Responsibilities

As part of the management team, the Operations Manager supports the Regional Manager by coordinating site operations, including sales, production, purchasing, customer service and managing a team to ensure that the site remains safe and environmentally compliant, CF&I Recycling is committed to maintaining and promoting a safe, healthy and injury-free environment. It is required for all jobs.

  • Hires, trains, develops, monitors, and evaluates performance of staff.  Reviews and recommendation of personnel actions for approval 
  • Perform staffing scheduling and managing day-to-date operations of the site
  • Provide performance feedback, counseling, coaching and training to the team
  • Manage shredder operations, Non-ferrous production, and yard management.
  • Develop and maintain equipment maintenance schedule
  • Ensure policies and procedures are communicated and implemented by performing weekly audit tours of facility, work with Heath Safety and Environment to meet and implement company standards, work with production supervisor to create, train and implement standard operating procedures. Hold weekly facility meeting with supervisors and employees review KPI’s and plan for the week
  • Prepare operating reports for the management and operations team to ensure overall safeguarding of company assets.
  • Fully engaged in Orion Operating Systems (Continuous Improvement Program) safety, productivity, and cost initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and policies to achieve results
  • Solicits operations information to provide recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolves problems; complete audits; identify trends
  • Establish and enforce standards and procedures, comply with legal regulations to maintain safe and healthy work environment.
  • Coordinates and maintains inventory of parts to ensure continuous production / operations in case of equipment outage. Purchases of parts for mobile equipment
  • Ensure freight weights for rail cars, work with operators to maximize loads. Checking daily weight reports and working with operators to improve on weights in rail cars based on actuals from KPI
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or another related fields.
  • 5 years management or leadership experience in industrial manufacturing, automotive or distribution
  • Experience in shredder, Non-Ferrous operations considered an asset
  • Loader and heavy equipment operator license considered an asset
  • Experience in Maintenance program considered an asset
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Solid quantitative skills to understand site financial performance and operating statistics (KPIs)
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities while performing quality work in an efficient manner with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work required hours which includes weekends and holidays and at any site assigned within reasonable distance from home site

Compensation

$115,000 - $130,000 based on experience
