JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Kantor Lab is currently recruiting undergraduate students to help with laboratory activities.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Assist with forest and insect vector sample collection.
  • Support general lab operations, provide assistance in ongoing nematology, microbiology, and molecular biology experiments as assigned.
  • Learn and follow scientific protocols.

Other tasks may include but are not mandatory:

  • Support the preparation of presentations, reports, and research summaries (opportunities for co-authorship may be possible with significant contribution).
  • Perform laboratory tasks such as data entry, basic statistics, microscopy, sample collection, DNA extraction, PCR, and nematode identification/counts.
  • Assist with experimental design, data collection, and analysis under supervision.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in wildlife and fisheries science, biology, microbiology, plant sciences, or a related field.
  • No prior research experience required; laboratory coursework or previous research experience is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn are essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Enthusiasm for gaining hands-on research experience and developing technical skills
