Job Summary

The Sr. Construction Technician is responsible for initiating and building customer relationships, while providing technical solutions through our products and services. As brand ambassadors of Ziply Fiber within our communities, this position will bring excellent customer service and technical expertise to resolve telecommunication issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed below are a range of duties performed by the employee and not intended to reflect all duties performed.

  • Utilize test equipment to install products and isolate trouble effectively.
  • Support, install, and repair company products by providing Ziply Fiber services.
  • Install and maintain inside wiring for residential/business broadband (HSI/Video) service.
  • Install Central Office and B-box junctions as required for broadband continuity, digital subscriber carriers and associated broadband equipment, such as DSLAMS (Digital subscriber line access multiplexer), Residential Gateways and HSI (High-Speed Interface) business class routers.
  • Install wireless home networking equipment; will include FTTH (Fiber to the House).
  • Use and understand automated Dispatch equipment (i.e., handheld terminals), read and understand broadband service orders and trouble tickets, and the use of appropriate broadband test equipment.
  • Effectively use preventive maintenance program by rebuilding aerial/buried/underground cables.
  • Effectively use Ziply Fiber’s internal programs and dispatch programs to complete assignments.
  • Navigate web, set up Business/Residential computer(s) and demonstrate applications to customers.
  • Read and interpret Outside Plant drawings.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The individual in this position must possess the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with Fiber Optic construction and maintenance, transmission/noise isolation, sealed plant repair and/or operation of all types of heavy equipment.
  • Five (5) years of experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance is preferred.
  • Additional equipment certification/licensing/experience is preferred (i.e., Nortel, DMS10, ADTRAN, AFC/Tellabs, Calix, Go Digital, Acetelis, Pair Gain, Multiplexers, Seis
