What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world.

Part of Amgen's R&D Strategy & Operations organization, the R&D Knowledge & Learning team serves staff across R&D and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, transforming how we learn and grow together. We are reimagining learning as an integrated, longitudinal journey—inclusive of but not limited to traditional training—by deeply understanding roles, personas, and the competencies needed to deliver on our goals. Through our capabilities and expertise, which include learning & performance, knowledge management, and the Amgen Library, we orchestrate tailored learning experiences that drive personal and organizational growth, empowering our teams to deliver on Amgen’s mission to serve patients around the world.

As the Senior Manager, R&D Learning Professional, you will be responsible for managing the ongoing orchestration of learning experiences within the broader portfolio of an R&D/OCMO sub-function. Reporting to a Director, R&D Learning Business Partner, you will drive the design, development, and execution of learning strategies for key roles, initiatives, or competencies within the sub-function, inclusive of onboarding for key roles, upskilling, and delivering integrated and longitudinal learning experiences that are inclusive of but extend far beyond “just” training.

You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to assess learning needs, develop solutions, and ensure successful implementation and measurement of the programs you manage. Your role will be crucial in supporting business transformation, driving the adoption of new behaviors and processes, and ensuring employees are equipped with the necessary skills to excel in their roles.

We are hiring for 3 total positions. While all 3 roles share the same core purpose of shaping learning strategies and driving capability development, each role will support a unique set of sub-functional client groups in the R&D and Chief Medical Office organizations:

  • Research, Commercialization (CMZ), and R&D Strategy & Operations (RDSO)
  • Global Development
  • Global Medical, Global Regulatory Affairs & Strategy (GRAAS), and Global Patient Safety (GPS)

Responsibilities

  • Lead specific learning programs for the sub-function, focusing on initiatives, roles, or competencies that drive business performance.
  • Conduct learning needs assessments in partnership with stakeholders to define skill gaps, development priorities, and competency requirements.
  • Develop role personas utilizing user research techniques to form a deep understanding of the various roles in an R&D/OCMO sub-function as it relates to key competencies.
  • Design and deliver learning solutions across various modalities (live, virtual, self-serve), leveraging knowledge management techniques and approaches where appropriate, that are aligned with business strategies and tailored to the needs of specific roles or initiatives.
  • Work in partnership with Quality and GxP Learning to develop learning experiences to enable a vision for learning beyond read and certify.
  • Collaborate with content developers, instructional designers, and external vendors to deliver high-quality learning interventions.
  • Manage the learning program lifecycle, from planning and execution to post-delivery assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of learning programs through performance metrics and feedback, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Act as a change leader, by enabling continuous learning and development, and supporting transformation initiatives across the sub-function.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise-wide learning initiatives and collaborate across functions to share best practices and resources.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the relevance and impact of learning solutions.
