JOB SUMMARY:
The Obstetrician Gynecologist will provide excellent, evidence-based, efficient patient care services, as well as resident and student teaching, mentoring, effective supervision. This role is a flexible role within the department of OB/GYN to help meet the clinical needs of the department to include outpatient, rural, and inpatient work. OBGYN Department at MAHEC is committed to increasing access to healthcare within our 16-county area in North Carolina.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and lead mentoring relationships for underrepresented in medicine(URiM) residents within MAHEC or Asheville.
- Collaborate with Asheville and Buncombe County business organizations to create robust group of URM role models and professional relationship opportunities.
- Connect with Western North Carolina Medical Society and other regional and state healthcare and medical societies to create connections and opportunities for leadership.
- Bring lived experience and expertise to the role of mentorship and curriculum development.
Clinical Supervision and Teaching:
- Supervise Ob/Gyn residents, Family Practice residents, fellows, and students at Mission Hospitals on Labor and Delivery, as well as patients in the Emergency Room, Antepartum, and Postpartum, Operating room, and Post-operative setting.
- Supervise advanced practice providers of MAHEC Ob-Gyn in Mission Hospitals.
- Consult and collaborate with regional care providers seeking care for patients needing transport or with high acuity situations.
- Provide collaboration and consultation for providers for whom MAHEC OB/GYN are the backup providers.
- Provider collaboration and consultation as the Obstetric Hospitalist while fulfilling that role in Mission Hospitals.
- Provide training and didactics on general obstetric and gynecologic topics. Provides teaching topics for resident night float team.
- Provide evaluation both formative and summative to residents and learners using myTIPreport.
- Provide appropriate face to face feedback to residents and students in a professional and constructive manner.
