POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State is currently seeking an Assistant/Associate Director of Medical Development in supporting Penn State Health and the Penn State College of Medicine. As a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, you can play an integral role in Penn State’s future and contribute to one of the most successful fundraising and alumni relations operations in the country.

Reporting to the Director of Medical Development at the Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Health, and working closely and collaboratively with foundation relations, development and alumni relations colleagues, academic partners, and research administration staff, this Assistant Director will:

  • Interface and build fruitful relationships with corporations, foundations and individual donors to support Penn State Health and the Penn State College of Medicine’s needs, ambitions, and values, through excellent informal and formal communications including email, phone, in-person or virtual meetings and submission of LOIs and proposals;
  • Engage in annual and periodic strategic planning discussions with University representatives including vice presidents, deans, chairs, chancellors, department heads, principal investigators/faculty, program heads, and development colleagues to identify and develop plans to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects;
  • Articulate Penn State’s needs, ambitions, and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, through excellent informal and formal communications, including written proposals;
  • Prepare briefing materials, coordinate meetings (virtual or in-person) between external prospects and partners and internal program staff and deans, chancellors, department heads, physicians, principal investigators, faculty, and development colleagues;
  • Assist in the development of annual goal setting solicitation targets;
  • Proactively coordinate with Prospect Research and Analytics and development staff to identify emerging funders and new funding strategies for existing partners and maintain a strong prospect pool aligned with University priorities;
