The Plant Support Specialist employees (Associate - Specialist levels) coordinate environmental processes within the assigned power generating facilities of the Hydro Generation organization. They ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and requirements of the licenses for the company’s hydroelectric facilities.
What you'll do:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all state and federal environmental regulations and the requirements of the licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) applicable to the operation of the AEP hydroelectric facilities. Work with personnel within Hydro Operations to assure compliance with company policies as well as applicable regulations and requirements.
- As instructed or required, coordinate, as needed, with Environmental, Real Estate, and Engineering Services internal to AEP to assure compliance with environmental regulations and license requirements.
- As instructed or required, coordinate regulatory reporting to environmental agencies including the FERC; ensure that timely notifications and submittals are made, as needed, to regulatory agencies; assist in the implementation of management plans for the hydroelectric facilities; assist in the implementation and coordination of the Emergency Action Plans; provide environmental support for construction projects, assist in the development of applications for permits and new licenses for the hydroelectric facilities; and identify, clarify, resolve, and initiate solutions to complex problems encountered. As assigned, serve as focal point for local governments, regulatory agencies, and the general public for shoreline management of the hydroelectric reservoirs.
- Coordinate and/or provide, as needed, required and appropriate environmental trainings and oversight of employees and/or contract personnel involved in associated work.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and contracts related to job responsibilities.
What we're looking for:
SG 05 Associate level (Average starting pay $61,647-$77,057):
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (environmental science, biology, physical science, engineering, etc.)
Work Experience:
- 1-2 years' experience in maintenance and/or operation of industrial equipment.
- Preferred experience in environmental or license compliance or hydroelectric plant operations.
SG 06 Specialist level (Average starting pay: $72,380-$90,474):
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (environmental science, biology, physical science, engineering, etc.)
Work Experience:
- 3-4 years' experience in maintenance and/or operation of industrial equipment.
- Preferred experience in environmental or license compliance or hydroelectric plant operations.
Other requirements:
- Must have excellent written and oral communications skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Valid state driver's license
- Experience in applicable fields may be considered for credit for part of the education and/or experience requirements.
