JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Scranton, a member of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), is accepting applications for a Part-Time Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the Women’s Basketball program, including practice preparation, competition coaching, student-athlete development, and recruitment of academically qualified student-athletes. This position is primarily in-season, with off-season responsibilities related to recruiting and program development. The Head Coach will lead the program under the direction of the Director of Athletics and may have the opportunity to work with an Assistant Coach.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Coaching
- Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices and competitions.
- Provide game day coaching and in-game decision-making.
- Oversee player development, including athletic, academic, and personal growth.
- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented culture.
- Provide vision and leadership aligned with Penn State values and the athletics mission.
Recruitment & Retention
- Recruit, evaluate, and retain academically qualified and talented student-athletes.
- Maintain communication with prospective student-athletes and families.
- Ensure recruiting activities are conducted in compliance with institutional and conference regulations.
Program Operations
- Manage all day-to-day operations of the Women’s Basketball program under the direction of the Athletic Director.
- Plan and implement practice and competition schedules.
- Oversee team events, travel, and related logistics as assigned.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to the Director of Athletics for weekly, seasonal, conference, and national awards.
- Collaborate effectively with athletic department staff, campus partners, and administrators.
