Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Academic Success (ADAS) will develop processes to identify and support students' academic success. Programmatically, this involves suggested procedural changes to improve
knowledge retention, leading to degree attainment for class cohorts. The ADAS will also establish a system to identify resources and make student referrals for academic support. This position will closely collaborate with the Assistant Director of Curricular Outcomes to design content that supports the attainment and retention of learning outcomes.
The ADAS will work collaboratively with faculty to develop strategies and respond to students with academic difficulties to develop content-specific learning plans. They will develop academic intervention and remediation strategies for at-risk students, which include the administration of learning assessments and the development and implementation of individualized learning plans, including strategies for institutional and national standardized testing.
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, creative, and possess a strong knowledge base in educational psychology and learning behaviors; they must also be able to engage collaboratively with deans, chairs, and faculty. The position will report directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop processes to identify and support students' academic success.
- Suggest procedural changes to improve knowledge retention leading to degree attainment or class cohorts.
- Establish systems to identify resources and make student referrals for academic support.
- Develop academic intervention and remediation strategies for at-risk students. Administration of learning assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans, including preparation for institutional and national examinations
- Collaborate with the curricular team on educational scholarship endeavors to produce presentations, publications, grant funding, etc. that highlight innovations in academic assessment and evaluation.
- Continuous quality improvement related to academic affairs (curriculum, accreditation, assessment, and operations)
Oversight and Supervision:
Receives moderate to limited supervision, working from objectives set by the supervisor.
Carries out most assignments in accordance with standard practices, instructions, or previous training. Resolves some unusual situations independently.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Requires practical knowledge and expertise of concepts, principles, and practices of a single professional discipline or a broad understanding of multiple related disciplines and general management.
Leadership and Influence: Plans and leads work of managers, multiple professional and/or staff members in a college, department, or major functional area. Provides training, direction and instruction and conducts performance evaluations. May provide recommendations on pay decisions, as well as recruitment and development opportunities.

Solutions may require investigation and analysis of multiple alternatives, requiring significant innovation and creativity. Contributes to the planning and development of programs, projects, or systems impacting the department, college or division.

Requires ability to influence others outside of own job area on policies, practices and procedures. Uses information exchange, influence, and active persuasion to gain cooperation of others to support college, division or department objectives.
