Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an experienced Assistant Construction Manager to join our team based in our Hanover, Maryland office. This is an on-site role managing regional construction projects. The initial assignment will be at a Wastewater Treatment Plant in Harford County Maryland.
Our ideal candidate will become a member of our talented team of construction management professionals that focus on delivering outstanding client service, helping them program, plan, and deliver their infrastructure, building and engineering projects. Services include managing water and wastewater and other project types from the pre-bid phase through the construction phase for these exciting and challenging projects. In this role, you will use your knowledge of construction and project management to successfully deliver these projects to our clients. You will work closely with clients, engineers, contractors and end-users, demonstrating a strong understanding of the process. We’re looking for candidates that want to change the industry through determination, education, and leadership.
Role accountabilities:
The Assistant Construction Manager is responsible for Construction Management and Field Management of regional construction projects in Harford County Maryland. Additional projects to be assigned following the completion of this project.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Change Management: Develop change orders, request for proposals and independent cost estimates. Lead change order negotiations with our clients and contractors.
- CPM Scheduling: Review and analyze contractor’s project schedules. Develop pre-bid CPM schedules from the project design documents, perform analysis of the contractor’s baseline and monthly CPM schedule updates and deliver the analysis in a detailed report and during project meetings. Lead Time Impact Analysis (TIA’s) to support negotiations of contractor requested time extensions.
- Produce regular project progress reports and briefings for project stakeholders.
- Lead and conduct all construction and progress meetings. Develop meeting agendas and meeting minutes with action items.
- Manage all project documents and communications through contract/document management software.
- Oversee, manage and coordinate with our project field inspectors.
- Liasson with contractor and plant operations on shutdowns and tie-ins.
- Review, process and provide a recommendation for payment for the contractor’s monthly payment applications with concurrence with the client.
- Develop a project risk register for each project and managed and report on the project risk register with the project team on a regular basis.
- Develop and make presentations to groups to include clients and public meetings.
- Establish a culture of health and safety on the project.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field.
- 2 years of Project Management, Construction Management or related experience in water, wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations and/or utility projects.
Key Attributes/Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project is a plus.
- Positive and self-starter approach to delivering successful projects.
- Experience in developing change order cost estimates.
- Experience in developing CPM schedules and analyzing contractor’s schedules.
- Experience in commercial contract/document software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Water and Wastewater (treatment plants, pump stations, utilities) construction.
- Construction Management experience.
