Onsite Services Manager

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Regional Director, Onsite Services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location:  Waltham, MA

Shift: Mon – Fri, days

What we’re looking for: 

• Associate degree required, undergraduate degree in business or science related field strongly desired.

• 5+ years applicable experience in customer service, purchasing, and/or account management required.

• 1+ years previous experience managing associates and strong ability to motivate others required.

• General purchasing and inventory knowledge required.

• Clear and concise communication skills; listening, verbal, reading, and writing skills required.

• Ability to make sound business decisions with limited consultation with leadership required.

• Must be proficient in trouble shooting, proactive, adaptable, and multi-task oriented.

• Excellent customer service skills including a professional can-do demeanor required.

• Inside sales experience and strong cross-referencing skills considered a plus.

• CPR, OSHA, Spill containment, IATA, DOT, IMDG, Hazwoper, GMP, and/or GLP training desired.

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.
 

In this role you will:

• Day to day operational management of the Avantor Services team on our customer’s site.

• Oversight of Health and safety requirements, training and compliance, and line management of the Avantor staff to ensure delivery of a high-quality service to our customer.

• Consult with other suppliers, senior stakeholders, and the science community ensuring continuity of contracted services by measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Provide oversight to lower-level supervisor.

• Coaches, motivates, and supervises team members to successfully perform job requirements and to meet and exceed goals.

• Provides training and backup to associates to perform required inventory management tasks.

• Manages budget; reviews and approves expense reports.

• Customer reporting and data analysis.

• Serves as a role model and mentor in both words and actions for associates who express and exhibit a desire to pursue individual professional growth and team growth.

• Establishes, maintains, and continuously reviews goals and objectives for the department to insure they are in line with the overall corporate goals and objectives.

• Monitors and reports on actual performance vs. established goals and objectives.

• Plans, develops, and implements programs and procedures, within scope of authority, with an emphasis on improving department productivity, individual productivity, and corporate profitability.

• Conducts performance appraisals, timecard review, vacation scheduling, and performance issues.

• Develops and maintains: SOPs, SOWs, SPIs and KPIs.

• Conducts internal and external presentations.

• Ensures GxP compliance and good documentation practices.

• Brings value to the customer from personal development in the industry potential to manage scientific services.

• Manages revenue growth and TOE reduction.

• Other duties as assigned.
