Mission Brief
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Design for Manufacturing & Assembly Engineer to join the DFMA team and drive DFMA excellence across all launch system components. You will ensure manufacturability & scalability of launch system - from prototyping phase to flight designs, directly influencing mission success. This role requires a strong understanding of key aerospace design principles & advanced manufacturing processes - Acting as bridge between design & production worlds and proactively solving challenges, providing optimization suggestions and driving continuous improvement in a rapidly evolving environment.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
- Collaborate with design engineers and production teams in reviewing, identifying issues & optimizing the launcher systems under DFMA principles through an iterative approach: Drive industrialization of designs, focusing on simplification, standardization, variance minimization and cost efficiency
- Lead & coordinate review cycles aligned with design readiness milestones, production feedback & timeline constraints
- Manage Bill-of-Materials (BOMs) across engineering and production on assigned systems
- Provide technical support for interpretation, evaluation and resolution of systematic production non-conformities
- Develop & implement internal DFMA tools, guidelines, frameworks and best practices applicable to launch system components
Qualification Checklist
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or equivalent work experience related fields
- Experience: 2-5 years in relevant industries, preferred hands-on/practical experience with design for manufacturing
- Good understanding of aerospace design principles, engineering change requests/orders (ECR/ECO), production processes & assembly techniques
- Strong skills with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Siemens NX) and PDM/PLM Systems (e.g. Siemens Teamcenter), including drafting & GD&T Definition
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Proficient communication skills in English, German for shopfloor interactions is a plus
Bonus Skills
- Scripting / Data Analysis Skills – e.g. Python & Excel
- Experience with Lean principles
- First-hand experience with Design-FMEA / Process-FMEA
