About the role

Your next role could keep millions of commuting New Yorkers connected.  We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic and personable Field Technician who can help us bring next-generation technology to our New York projects. Based in our New York office you’ll be inspecting, installing, and maintaining a carrier-grade wireless cellular Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Wireless LAN (WLAN).   

What you’ll be doing

As part of the Operations Organization colleagues will rely on your knowledge of DAS components, Fiber Optic cables, and Wi-Fi AP’s.  Working independently or as part of a team, you’ll help to support and maintain our serving base station locations which includes network troubleshooting, monitoring, and vendor access coordination. It’s a role with a lot of variety, and day-to-day, you’ll mainly be involved with: 

• Performing reactive and preventative maintenance on DAS, Wi-Fi, and other related systems 
• Performing diagnostic troubleshooting and replacing operational devices as needed. 
• Providing 24x365 support of the datacenter, DAS & Wi-Fi nodes, and responding as needed. 
• Documenting, tracking, logging, and monitoring all network related problems and ensuring timely issue resolution. 
• Analyzing the network and recommending upgrades/changes to the procedures and policies for continuous improvement. 
• Providing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance or assistance within a datacenter, office, and subway station environment. 
• Working at both new and existing locations handling preventative maintenance and ensuring all work is performed to the Boldyn Networks’ best practices and specifications. 
• Training and performing coax PIM and fiber optic cable testing and mitigating issues on platforms in the datacenter and in the NYC subway environment. 

• Working with hand tools and test equipment in the NYC subway, datacenter, and office environments. 

What you’ll bring

• 3+ years of experience in RF system build out and working with various RF hardware components such as cables and related test equipment is essential. 
• A solid understanding of the testing and troubleshooting of a cellular network.  DAS, integration, Wi-Fi and Public safety is a plus. 
• PIM testing and fiber optic cable testing experience is a plus. Training will be provided if needed.   
• A great track record of maintaining your own safety and that of others, ensuring that all incidents and potential hazards are reported. OSHA-10 certification required, but will be provided, if needed. 
• Working in a datacenter, an office, and subway environments will have some related level of noise present. 
• Traveling throughout NYC may be required to maintain wireless networks. 

• Moving and/or lifting material weighing up to a maximum of 60 pounds may be required. 
• Working on stepladders to reach equipment is required.
