About this job:
Special Education Paraprofessional supports the educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical and daily living needs of students with disabilities during the Extended School Year (ESY) program.
Dates and Hours:
- May 7th - Tentative Staff Orientation Day (4 p.m - 5 p.m.)
- June 5th - ESY Staff Planning Day
- June 8th - July 10th 2026. (Monday - Thursday, no Fridays)
- Hours: 7:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Sites:
All sites will be ECE-12: Place Bridge Academy, Kaiser, William “Bill” Roberts, Florida Pitt-Waller and Centennial.

What You'll Do:
- Communicate and coordinate with students and parents (oral and written) about routine educational/non-educational needs.
- Provide support to classroom teachers as appropriate for the needs of an individual student or group of students.
- Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments for accomplishing daily tasks (listening to students read, providing writing assistance, help with computer learning programs) for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts while assisting students in reaching academic goals, grade level standards, appropriate social skills.
- May assist with lifting and transporting of students, as well as daily living activities such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene as trained and directed.
- Monitors students in classrooms, playgrounds, lunchrooms, and during the loading/unloading of buses.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- May provide medically invasive (e.g., tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning); and daily living (e.g., toileting, diapering, feeding, personal hygiene), following universal precautions and as trained and directed.
- Lift and transport students using appropriate equipment and technique, according to District training.
- Operate and use therapy equipment (e.g., supportive devices, writing aids, Besi seats, etc).
- May be asked to assist in other classrooms or ESY sites based on student and program needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, plus 48 college credit hours or higher. If you do not have the credit hours or degree, you will need to pass one of the DPS approved tests. - Specialized training in invasive procedures, such as tube feeding and catheterization.
- Experience working with the structures needed for students with executive functioning disorders.
- Ability to monitor and supervise assigned student activity for sustained periods of time.
- Ability to work one-on-one or in small groups with students.
- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.
- CPR and First Aid certificates are preferred, but not required.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) is preferred.
- Strong emphasis on behavior management systems, visual schedules, and social communication instruction.
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
- Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
