Mechanical Engineer, Junior

We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as a Mechanical Engineer, Junior to work out of Fort Eustis, VA.

Essential Duties:

• Develop test plans which are realistic and executable within schedule and budget constraints and comply with documented guidelines. Test planning encompasses the preparation necessary for successful execution. This includes the development and evaluation.
• Maintain cognizance and responsibility for execution of assigned program test efforts ensuring that technical and schedule performance is quantifiable and commensurate with program plans, program perturbations are identified, impact assessments are completed, and corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.
• Serve as a mechanical/test engineer in the Drives Branch team and provides technical expertise and programmatic assistance in support of team efforts and programs. Develop and maintain proficiency over branch facilities and capabilities in the areas of data acquisition, analysis, presentation, and archiving.
• Process equipment to commercial manufacturers for repairs and/or calibrations as needed; manage time, materials, and equipment, to complete these projects.
• Maintain and increase technical competence/skills through training and independent study in mechanical engineering and tribology.
• Apply training knowledge to increase productivity and quality of project support.
• Complete cyclic inventories of assigned equipment. Ensure all equipment is properly utilized, maintained, and secured.
• Assist in house cleaning activities to ensure a clean and safe working and testing environment.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• 0-3 years of work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
• Aviation experience (US Army Aviation or Rotary Wing experience is preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
• Previous experience in a testing environment with emphasis in material testing.
• Knowledge/experience in the following software: Profilm3D, Romax Concept, and Romax Evolve
• Basic mechanical skills working with machinery, mechanical assembly and minor fabrication.

Education/ Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution

Required Clearance: Clearable (Ability to Obtain)
