Principal Embedded Software Engineer

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Working with internal and external stakeholders to solicit needs and requirements. Analysis of system-level requirements and contribution to software requirements and other software documentation.

• Collaborating effectively with local and overseas cross-functional teams to meet project milestones.

• Being methodical, well-organized, thorough and detailed oriented.

• Being a team player with a positive attitude, collaborative, dedicated, makes things happen.

EXPERIENCE:

• Degree major in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

• Experience with software development lifecycle and best practices in the medical industry (EN 62304, FDA guidance) or similar regulated environment.

• Experience with risk assessment and mitigation strategies pertaining to patient safety.

• Understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design and design patterns.

• Experience developing software for distributed electro-mechanical systems.

• Proficiency with C/C++ deployed on real-time operating systems (RTOS).

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking tools.

• Experience configuring and managing software build pipelines is a plus.

• Prior experience as a technical lead is a plus.

• Experience with Agile software development methodology is a plus.

• Experience with .NET and Python application development is a plus.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)

• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

• 8+ Years of Relevant Experience

• Work hours:40 hours

• Travel:10%
