Position Description Redhorse Corporation is seeking a Senior Operations Specialist for the Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) at the Department of Energy. SETO’s mission is to accelerate the development and deployment of solar technology to support an equitable transition to a decarbonized electricity system by 2035 and decarbonized energy sector by 2050. Achieving this goal will support the nationwide effort to meet the threat of climate change and ensure that all Americans benefit from the transition to a clean energy economy.   The Senior Operations Specialist position is a critical member of SETO’s Operations team.  SETO’s Operations team aims to provide excellent customer service to SETO staff, external stakeholders, and laboratory partners while ensuring the administrative support functions are processed in a timely and professional manner.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Responsible for supporting day-to-day activities and workflow of the Program Office. 
  • Responsible for developing recommendations for the optimization of operations activities to improve Program Office functionality. 
  • Leading and implementing process improvements and change management
  • Managing, coordinating, editing, and formatting government controlled correspondence packages
  • Working through complicated approval processes
  • Ability to coordinate Program Office-wide administrative work. These activities may include, but are not limited to: 
  • non-routine administrative functions, 
  • monitoring projects and/or budgets for assigned functional areas, 
  • maintaining project plans, tasks plans, and related calendars.  
  • Support of Program Office project-related meetings, including merit and peer reviews. 
  • Coordinate meetings, communications, and deliverables across team members and internal and external Program stakeholders. 
  • Manage Outlook calendars and conference rooms. 

Requirements for Experience and Skills

  • Expertise in managing multiple tasks and/or projects, generating reports and presentations, and excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external staff members, and the ability to work independently and take a proactive role
  • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment
  • High energy, enthusiasm, tact, ability to interact effectively with senior executives. Flexibility and ability to prioritize tasks according to senior staff requirements
  • Experience with systems management, process automation such as automated emails
  • Ability to write low level scripts in Microsoft and Smartsheets
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Proficiency in document editing and developing written communications for a variety of audiences through online and offline mediums.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team comprised of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, pro-active, and able to multitask with little to no supervision or prompting.

Minimum Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience, and Credentials include:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Master's Degree and 5 years of experience.
  • Twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
