Sibelco is a world-leading producer of high-purity quartz, which is an indispensable ingredient in the production of semiconductors, photovoltaic cells, and high-intensity quartz lightbulbs. Our mines and processing facilities near Spruce Pine, NC have been in operation for over a century. Due to the strong demand growth for our products, we are building on this legacy to invest in growing our business and our world-class team.

As Project Director – High Purity Quartz you will join our Capital Projects team and lead the delivery of projects from concept to commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of project professionals to deliver major capital projects, from concept to pre-feasibility, feasibility, execution and commissioning, safely, on time, on budget and in line with specifications.

• Deliver projects in a disciplined manner, through detailed planning, transparent reporting, regular project reviews, and problem-solving to stay on plan.

• Provide safety leadership through setting the safety culture and expectations, implementing leading and lagging indicator safety programs, project and contractor team meetings, and time in the field.

• Build a strong team and an engaging work environment.

• Work with Operations and other functional teams to develop multiyear capital programs and plans in support of Sibelco’s growth and business plans.

• Contribute to improving Sibelco’s project standards and processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Business, or Management

• At least 15 years prior experience in Capital Projects or Engineering, including 5 or more years managing a major project (>$250M) or a portfolio of projects of various size and complexity levels.

• International experience is an asset.
