The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Student Technical ME for John Deere Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, IA, you will….
- Maintain and evolve existing tools and processes.
- Assists team in identifying issues and proposing resolutions.
- Gather, review, and analyze information.
- Respond to critical production down situations affecting manufacturing and maintenance activities across the factory site.
- Support integration (installation and networking) of shop floor machines, equipment, and tooling into site MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers).
- Produces a variety of correspondence and reports in support of department processes.
- Learns and applies company engineering policies and practices; learns company products.
This position is not available to students on immigration visas.
What Skills You Need
- Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Automation & Control Engineering; others may apply
- Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university (Hawkeye, UNI, Wartburg, etc)
- Graduation date of Spring 2027 or later
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
- 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
- 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester
What Makes You Stand Out
- Good interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge in PLC and computer programming, Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, databases, and the engineering tools associated.
- Knowledge of electrical design and the codes, common practices, and engineering tools required.
- Knowledge of MES solutions (SAP-MES, AMES, JDAAT, Wonderware, SepaSoft, etc.) process control, process scheduling, mistake proofing of manufacturing processes, and shop floor device connectivity.
- Strong drive to deliver results and solve complex business problems.
