This is an entry-level position supporting modelling and data science for assigned business areas contributing to the scientific integrity of work products, including study design, research methodology, and deployment of statistical approaches and modelling. You will work under immediate supervision with a focus on learning and professional development.
Primary Responsibilities
• Help size analytical opportunities and share ideas on creating a delivery plan to ensure a positive commercial return against investment made
•Contribute knowledge to the development of analytical models to identify fraud, drive recoveries and renewals, drive profitable growth, and improve underwriting, pricing and claims performance
•Assist in the development of commercial propositions involving the use of analytics within insurance core function through own analysis, prior experience, research and development
•Build foundational knowledge of feature sets and gain exposure to machine learning algorithms
•Gain experience and work with analytics partners to build and put models into production, quantify and analyze model performance; guide and oversee model refreshing requirements
•Participate in analytical conversation with business around “the art of the possible using data science”, explore data from a modelling perspective, and perform initial exploratory data analysis to assess business value
•Implement fit-for-purpose analytics tools and infrastructure that will be used by the end user (e.g. claims handler or underwriter) and contribute to Information Technology strategy
•Ensure model implementations conform to regulatory requirements and produce clear documentation to support
•Positively promote the department, division and company as a whole, in order to maximize brand leverage and develop team profile
•Contribute to building analytical application designs and prototype to test out idea and drive innovation and prototyping in an agile framework
•Coordinate activities with other shared service partners
•Undertake personal development to ensure up to date skills and knowledge
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

• Ability to apply logic and reasoning to identify solutions to complex business problems and implement solutions
•Business and financial acumen and curiosity to learn and keep up with market trends and innovations
•Adapt and be flexible in a complex changing environment
Preferred Education Specifics
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in econometrics, mathematics, statistics or related discipline
Preferred Knowledge
• Knowledge of statistical / data mining methods and application in a business environment
•Broad understanding of Data Science domain, statistical and analytical model development and implementations, machine learning techniques and related disciplines
•Broad understanding of data modelling techniques, tools/language - R, Scala, Python, SAS etc.
•Good knowledge of visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau etc.
•Basic knowledge of insurance
