Barbaricum is seeking a skilled and motivated System/Network Administrator to join our team in supporting the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Condition Based Maintenance program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with wireless networks, Azure, MinIO, Linux, Python, and OBDII data. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a critical project within the defense industry. This position does allow for a hybrid schedule, with 1-2 days per week of telework authorized.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain local area networks (LANs), routers, managed switches, wireless access points (WAPs), servers, workstations, peripherals, cabling and other equipment, and other network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Monitor system and network performance, identifying issues and implementing necessary resolutions.
- Analyze and process OBDII data.
- Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware. Respond to requests either in person, online or phone.
- Provide configuration management support in accordance with compliance and policies and procedures, using configuration management systems to record, track, monitor, and update component configurations and configuration items and changes and account for assets.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and other computer systems.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to enhance system and network performance and security.
- Conduct regular system and network audits to ensure compliance with security standards and protocols.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a similar field
- Possess ONE of the following active certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP, CSSLP, CISSP, ECSP or SECURE C++, CompTIA, MCSA, CCNA
- Experience with Azure and MinIO for cloud storage and data management
- Proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting
- Familiarity with OBDII data and its related protocols
- Strong knowledge of wireless network design, implementation, and troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge of network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
Desired Qualifications
- System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields
- 5+ years of experience in supporting the US Department of Defense (DoD) military networks such as NMCI or MCEN as a Network Administrator
- Expert knowledge of IATT, IATC, and/or ATO process with the DoD
- 7 years of full-time professional experience with the configuration, deployment, and operation and maintenance of Linux or Microsoft Server operating systems
- Experience with network monitoring and log aggregation tools preferred
- Knowledge of maintaining, troubleshooting, and implementing network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services
