Director of Business Management

Overview

HD Biosciences-US, a WuXi AppTec Company, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to lead project management team and support business development activities. This role will collaborate closely with the internal scientific leaders, the business development team and clients to propose research service quotations, manage client relationships and project workflows, collect and analyze business data, and contribute to the company’s business development and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will also work alongside senior management, R&D group leaders, BD, legal, finance, marketing, and logistics teams to provide comprehensive project and business management and ensure the high-quality research services to the clients.

Responsibilities

• Oversees all aspects of project management, including client interactions, responding to inquiries, preparing research proposals and quotations, negotiating and establishing contracts, and coordinating with the technical team to ensure the delivery of high-quality research services.
• Manages existing client relationships and develops new partnerships to ensure high client satisfaction and foster long-term collaboration.
• Partners with senior management and the global project management team to develop and maintain the business database, extract actionable insights through data analysis, and identify industry trends and strategic directions.
• Collaborates closely with the business development team to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Works cross-functionally with R&D, legal, finance, marketing, and logistics teams to provide comprehensive support for daily operations.
• Leads and mentor team members, promoting a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

 

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D.in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field is required.
• 8+ years of experience in project management, business development, or a related function within the life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries.
• In-depth understanding of drug discovery and development processes, with a particular focus on preclinical research and CRO operations.
• Demonstrated success in managing client relationships, preparing quotations, and negotiating contracts.
• Experience in leading teams, building strong internal and external relationships, and managing people effectively.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Highly self-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to follow-through and delivering results.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, along with strong presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities; able to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all interactions. Fluency in Chinese is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in team settings and build strong collaborative relationships with management, R&D leaders, and the business development teams across diverse backgrounds to deliver optimal client solutions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask efficiently, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Capable of handling challenging situations and developing solutions that drive business success; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM / Salesforce tools is a plus.

• Willing and able to travel for client meetings, conferences, and business-related events as needed.

Physical Requirements:         

• Must be able to work in an office environment conferences, medical sites, and client offices
• Must be able to travel for long distances in various methods of transportation (e.g. car, airplane, shuttle bus, train, etc.)
• Ability to stand /sit/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
• Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing
• Must be able to perform some activities with repetitive motion, such as keyboarding
• Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / Chemicals
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
• Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels

 Anticipated salary range: $152,548 to $213,219
