The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers. The Population Health Division (PHD) provides core public health services for the City and County of San Francisco: health protection, health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and disaster preparedness and response. Behavioral Health Services operates in conjunction with SFHN and provides a range of mental health and substance use treatment services.

Job Description

The Informatics IS Project Manager collaborates with the clinical informatics team to translate health system strategies and requirements into strategic implementation plans for the new EHR. This includes developing governance structures for data collection, retrieval, analysis, and interpretation to enhance operational efficiency, system optimization, and informed decision-making. This role also supports the integration of automation, analytics, and best practices to improve organizational effectiveness. 

Duties Include 

  • Organize, direct, and supervise subordinates  
  • Participate in program, priority, and procedure development  
  • Coordinate IT user training 
  • Collaborate with informatics teams  
  • Coordinate IT system development among stakeholders 
  • Perform complex system administrator tasks 
  • Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot issues in IT systems 
  • Evaluate, recommend, and coordinate IT purchasing 
  • Build, support, and maintain data dashboards 
  • Ensure data integrity during transfers 
  • Other related duties, as assigned 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Ⓐ 7 total years* experience in
    • System Administration
      OR
    • Information Systems Development, Maintenance and Support
      OR
    • Information Technology Project Management
  • Ⓑ Including 2 years of supervisory experience

Education

  • Ⓒ An associate degree** in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units, i.e., at least 60 semester or 90 quarter credits/units with a minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely related field

*One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours of work experience (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week).

**Additional experience as described in  may substitute for , the required degree, on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of 2 years). One year is equivalent to 30 semester units/45 quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester/15 quarter units in Computer Science or a closely related field. Additional education cannot substitute for experience.
