We are looking for a Senior Design Research Lead with a passion for creating great products for great people (in our case, kids, and their parents). We are growing our research discipline at Greenlight and this person will help guide design partners and cross-functional teams to discover, interpret, and communicate insights and opportunities in an inspiring way, while contributing to all phases of the design process. In this role, you will work within the Design team, alongside partners from Product Management, Engineering, Brand, Marketing, and other core teams to ensure your research is optimized to develop key insights to drive great experiences. You will design, plan, conduct, and socialize user research across a spectrum of methodologies. You will be a strong influencer and promoter within and outside the Design organization, as well as an external face for Greenlight’s Design Research team.

We are beginning to grow the research discipline at Greenlight and  Design Researchers will help guide design partners and cross-functional teams to discover, interpret, and communicate insights and opportunities in an inspiring way, while contributing to all phases of the design process.
We’re looking for a driven research leader who is radically inspired by people and excels at leading the charge of gathering and communicating insights that put our users at the center of our product thinking. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, great storyteller and loves working with peers and leaders to mine for insights that drive elegant solutions to tough problems.

What you will be doing:

  • Devise, curate and own a mixed-methods practice of gathering both generative and evaluative insights on designs and concepts. Methods may include: in-lab and field studies, online surveys, usability testing, moderated and unmoderated remote testing, participatory design, customer journey mapping, personas, benchmarking, heuristic evaluations, in-depth user interviews, as well as stakeholder interviews.
  • Establish and drive an efficient strategy for scoping research, execution, visual storytelling and utilization of findings and artifacts to ensure alignment and action across internal partners
  • Monitor the impact of insights generated by the team and take part in the always-growing Design Research practice at Greenlight.
  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams responsible for our registration process
  • Manage internal relationships with peers across the Design Organization, as well as Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and other partners.
  • Going beyond simply capturing insights, you will be using them to inspire teams and customers, thereby putting design in motion.
  • Analyze and synthesize data from a myriad of sources to quickly identify and convey user insights that guide strategy and product definition
  • Scope and drive discovery and evaluative design research and translate research into strategic insights
  • Partner with Product Designers to evolve ideas into tangible concepts and product designs
  • Create visual artifacts that reflect insights and convey ideas that inspire new thinking
  • Design and facilitate design strategy workshops
  • Plan and lead others through analysis and synthesis activities
  • Design and deliver learning content and experiences akin to learn, practice, apply
  • Help leaders see the connection between research, customer insights and design solutions from ideation to execution

What you should bring:

  • 6+ years of experience in an applied user research setting
  • Advanced Degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Sociology or Anthropology
  • Practical experience driving qualitative and quantitative research methods throughout the product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to launch
