Primary Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive inspections and safety checks on incoming used vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and determine appropriate repairs.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance services including brakes, suspension, engine work, A/C systems, drivetrain, etc.
- Communicate with all service advisors and managers utilizing the software.
- Provide estimates of time and labor needed for other repairs.
- Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
- Test drive vehicles and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
- Stay up to date on new technology and techniques as required in a rapidly changing automotive environment.
- Keep the shop neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership owned tools at all times.
- Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
Automotive Experienced Used Car Technician Requirements
- Must be able to work 6am -2pm Monday – Thursday with alternating 8a-6pm Friday or Saturday.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an automotive technician (mechanic), preferably in used or pre-owned vehicles.
- Must be certified A/C (609 EPA Certification).
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment effectively.
- ASE Certifications are strongly preferred.
- Physically able to perform assigned tasks including lifting 85 pounds (or more) able to bend, stretch, kneel, squat, standing for extended periods and driving.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license with less than 4 points and no history of reckless driving.
- Consent to a background check and drug screening.
- Mobile device requirements: Android or Apple phone within 2 of the latest generations.
- Expect consistent exposure to moving parts, chemicals, dust, dirt, loud noises, and inclement weather conditions.
