Assistant Director Project Management

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure site level safety practices and protocol are implemented in alignment with organizational standards and ensures compliance and optimal safety results with a team who demonstrate safe behaviors by everyone, every time, everywhere
  • Establish Project Management team that models Vestas values and high standards of performance
  • Team is comprised of highly technical professionals that are creative and innovative and continuously develop projects that shift the industry while provide value to customers and margin to Vestas
  • Coach, mentor and develop leadership within region and across functional teams 
  • Understand the personal development needs of each leader and balances that with the business needs of the organization
  • Continue to elevate responsibility and decision-making authority of leadership team
  • Supports field decisions and projects initiatives through HQ.
  • Develop the team to ensure they utilize PMO, Project Controls and Planning to optimize project performance and customer experience
  • Provide tactical leadership and strategic direction to a staff of Project Management team to ensure project scopes, schedules, and budgets are monitored for completed project
  • Develop strategic project strategies and provide direction for projects from late-stage development through the construction phase
  • Extend Vestas safety and culture to all Construction partners
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including transportation, supply chain, and resources to control project costs and increase project margins. Ensure implementation of initiatives that improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Utilize data to make decisions while maintaining the highest levels of integrity
  • Partner with functional teams to provide necessary support and solutions for all construction projects.  Work with functional groups to lean out activities and simplify overall operating model
  • Provide effective leadership that achieves highly aligned, engaged and motivated project teams that produce high-level results against Key Performance Indicators and operational objectives. Build a team atmosphere within region and across functional support roles to align goals and simplify policy making
  • Promote the utilization and implementation of Lessons Learned optimizing performance across site teams. Establish a learning organization
  • Develop change management culture and leads initiative rollout
  • Responsible for all employment matters for team, including, but not limited to hiring, employee relations, performance management, and performance appraisals
  • Promote Quality standards across VAME and Construction

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in Project Management or relevant commercial experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience within project or technical management position
  • Proven experience in building teams or departments
  • Good, proven project and program management skills. Ability to develop, plan, and implement strategic short- and long-range goals
  • Effective employee development, coaching, and mentoring skills with the focus on leadership development.

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other software programs
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to develop and support a team
  • Creative and able to stay professional under pressure with the ability to cope with change and work in ambiguous circumstances
  • Technical capabilities and good at gathering and sharing information
