Purpose of Your Role 

Apex is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, automate, and optimize our AWS-based cloud environment while supporting hybrid and multi-cloud capabilities. In this role, you will lead cloud modernization initiatives, strengthen infrastructure reliability and security, and drive Infrastructure-as-Code and automation best practices. 

Partial onsite work will be required. For this reason, candidates should live in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area.

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure while supporting hybrid/multi-cloud integrations. 

• Architecting scalable, highly available cloud-native systems and leading migration and modernization efforts. 

• Building and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. 

• Automating provisioning, configuration, deployments, and environment workflows. 

• Enhancing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AAP) and improving observability through monitoring, logs, metrics, and alerts. 

• Ensuring cloud security, IAM governance, troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing cost, and supporting incident response. 

What Experience Is Required 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 

• 5+ years of professional cloud engineering experience. 

• Hands-on AWS experience across compute, networking, security, storage, and serverless. 

• Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. 

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS preferred). 

• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell. 

• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines. 

• Experience supporting distributed, highly available production systems. 

What Experience Is Preferred 

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional. 

• Experience with serverless patterns such as Lambda, API Gateway, and event-driven architectures. 

• Knowledge of service mesh, container security, or zero-trust architectures. 

• Experience with Azure cloud services such as Azure AD, VMs, Functions, AKS.
