Job Description

Position: Sr. vSphere vmware Network SME( AWS GovCloud,Cisco)

Location: Arlington, VA (Remote)

Duration: Long Term Contract

 

Job Description:

Client is seeking an experienced Networking and System Admin to support our Government Partner with managing complex networking infrastructure within AWS GovCloud and VMware vSphere/vCenter environments.

 

In this role you will:

  • Responsible for managing and maintaining customer network infrastructure (vSphere, AWS GovCloud, VMware Cloud on AWS)
  • Engage stakeholders and third-party vendors as needed for appropriate troubleshooting and information.
  • Support cloud migration activities including firewall modifications, AWS GovCloud networking administration (firewall rules, subnet creation/assignment, or security group management) and design, and monitoring.
  • Assist and support current and future VMware initiatives and administration.
  • Efficiently operate and manage the VMware Cloud on AWS node capacities with team (HDD, RAM, and Utilization).
  • Support network team in maintaining current AWS Direct Connect connections
  • Maintain and develop networking architecture diagrams and designs
  • Troubleshoot network-related challenges as they arise.
  • Assist and support current IPv6 initiatives
  • Responding to data calls by gathering and analyzing pertinent information, forming conclusions, developing solutions, and implementing plans
  • Assess and review system networking to identify potential security weaknesses, recommend improvements to amend vulnerabilities, implement changes and document upgrades.
  • Manage and maintain accurate licensing and records on VMware and network-related infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with peers and/or lead any and all VMware or network infrastructure/environment upgrades, transitions, and/or changes.
  • Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety and integrity of customer network assets.
  • Perform other IT Cloud/Networking sys admin related tasks as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Proficient in VMware suite (vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, and VMware Cloud on AWS)
  • Proficiency with Cisco network technology
  • Proficiency with AWS GovCloud networking technology (Direct Connect, Subnets, Security Groups, VPNs, BGP, NACLs, ENI)
  • VMware Certifications: VCTA (VMware Certified Technical Associate – Data Center Virtualization or Cloud Management and Automation)

 

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience working on agile team
  • Experience working with service now
  • Experience working with Jira
  • Experience with a variety of network technologies and solution architectures
  • Broad understanding of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the networking field.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art systems engineering principles and network design concepts
  • Virtualization experience (VDI & VMware, Micro-segmentation, NSX)
  • Cloud experience (AWS/AWS GovCloud, etc.)
  • Security best practices and implementing firewalls and perimeter security measures including VPN technologies.
  • Continuous integration, test automation and / or DevSecOps on iterative development projects
  • Cisco Certifications: CCNA or CCNP
  • VMware Certifications: VCP (VMware Certified Professional – VMware Cloud or Cloud Management and Automation)
  • AWS Certifications: Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect – Associate<
