Department Description

The Scheduling & Logistics Intern will be part of a high performing team responsible for delivering the supply of GSK products to the Biologics & Devices supply chain. They will demonstrate GSK values (Patient Focus, Transparency, Respect & Integrity) and Expectations (Courage, Accountability, Development & Teamwork) on a daily basis by engaging positively with team members. The Scheduling & Logistics (S&L) team at GSK, Upper Merion, manages the production schedule and coordination of bulk drug substance (BDS) receipt and shipments. S&L is responsible for ensuring on time manufacture and BDS receipt at our secondary sites for further manufacture.

Job Description

  • Learn about the production scheduling process and technology.
  • Support the scheduling team by working with stakeholders on improvement project(s) for right first time execution.
  • Data mining to identify potential changes to model assumptions in the scheduling software RTMS.
  • Implement/improve upon mechanism for scheduling assumption tracking.
  • Identify and implement process improvements (i.e. reduce material waste, improve productivity) and required documentation updates, within the controlled systems of the site.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in a natural science, engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the 12-week internship (May/June ~ August 2025).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Students actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree program are strongly preferred.
  • Technically oriented candidate with prior experience with biopharmaceutical operations via coursework, lab work, or industrial experience is highly preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will exhibit strong interpersonal skills and take initiative to learn and engage with process subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Candidate should preferably demonstrate the ability to follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and work in a highly regulated environment.
