We are excited to be hiring a dynamic individual interested in advancing the cardiac rhythm management (CRM) operating unit (OU) via critical medical science initiatives, inclusive of external research. Ideal role for a candidate that has a keen interest in the intersection of strategic and operational aspects, as this involves reviewing medical science work in a visible position, while maintaining sight of various requirements (regulatory, financial, safety, and so forth).
Our Cardiac Rhythm Management Integrated Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. It is comprised of three key businesses: Cardiac Pacing Therapies, Defibrillation Solutions, and Cardiac Diagnostic Services. Together, we will transform the lives of people with cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.

Location: This is an in-office role located in either Mounds View, MN or Maastricht, Netherlands
Ability to travel up to 10%.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Read and summarize incoming External Research Program (ERP) and Medical Science submissions and perform a preliminary assessment of feasibility, safety and logistical gaps
Support decision-making by synthesizing input from multiple stakeholders and ensuring decisions are well-reasoned and documented
Do routine portfolio assessment and make study specific recommendations/suggestions to the Board Chairs
Leverage scientific expertise to manage amendments to low-priority studies, while also reviewing protocol and contract changes across all studies to ensure alignment with strategic and scientific objectives, engaging stakeholders as needed
Maintain a strong command of requirements and processes, applying this knowledge to navigate complex and ambiguous situations with compliance and flexibility, while demonstrating learning agility in a dynamic, regulated environment.
Coordinate/drive each step of the board review process, ensuring all required elements of ERP/Med Sci decisions are thoroughly considered and documented and required timelines are met
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders and external investigators, both in writing and in meetings
Assess and respond to Quality Check Action Items and Audit Findings
Close collaboration with the other clinical research specialists (CRSs), as well as the scientists
Collaborate with other OUs to share best practices and ensure ERPs and Med Sci initiatives supported are in the best interest of one Medtronic
Represent our OU’s interests in enterprise-wide Medical Science initiatives/decisions
Maintain global mindset in overseeing the strategic and operational goals of medical science

Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or biomedical engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience in clini
