Job Description:

The Data Analytics Director is a strategic leader responsible for the data and analytics operations of a group of system or business unit analytic departments, major region or geography. This includes directing the design, development, and implementation of analytical products and strategic impact. They ensure accurate, timely, and useful data are provided to Intermountain leaders to guide decisions for system-wide or region-wide strategies. They ensure that the managers of teams responsible for data deliverables strive to identify and adopt best practice standards and that those standards are in line with our overall analytic and business strategies.

This position leads highly skilled, high impact teams with deep clinical and technical expertise in leveraging healthcare data to solve real-world problems. Our teams report up to the Chief Analytics Officer and work in strong partnership with key business and clinical leaders across all areas of Intermountain Healthcare.  This team provides ongoing training, maintenance, monitoring and promotion of data applications and reports to ensure data insights are widely known, accessible, and used to its fullest potential.

This position directs multiple analytic departments or functions and create and ensure budgets are met for areas of accountability.  The Data Analytics Director will help lead, develop, and deploy world class data analytics at Select Health. Working within an agile framework, you will partner with business and clinical leaders, and data professionals across the organization, supporting our Mission to help people live the healthiest lives possible.

Job Essentials:

  • Develop strategic plans for area of responsibility and execute to that plan. Ensures that the plan is in line with enterprise analytic and Intermountain strategies.
  • Lead governance and prioritization workgroups to ensure work priorities align to business unit, region and system priorities. Effective executive communication under high pressure and tight timelines is a must.
  • Lead within the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprises (SAFe). A strong understanding of SAFe principles is required.
  • Accountable for delivering high performance on Enterprise Analytics key performance indicators (KPI’s) across the teams they lead, such as Strategic Impact, Value Realization, and Team Engagement.
  • Have an expert understanding of data platforms and architectures to enable strong partnership and mentorship with data platform, technical data analysts and solution architects in the development of analytic solutions.
  • Ensures alignment and support of Data Governance strategy including data stewardship and data quality for your business unit and alignment to organization standards.
  • Responsible for directly or indirectly leading a number of roles on agile delivery teams including: Product Owners, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Data Architects and other supporting roles.
  • This leader will interface frequently with executive leadership, needs the ability to synthesize large, complex topics in succinct and consumable forms for highest impact and decision making with leaders and executives.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for their departments/functions. Continuously challenges the status quo by evaluating the current processes and practices against industry standards both inside and outside of healthcare.
  • Mentor and coach managers/supervisors/data analysts and ensure adequate management succession plans are in place.
  • Manage business and stakeholder relationships within areas of responsibility. Focus on solutions and strategies that create win-win situations both inside and outside of the analytic organization.
  • Deliver results for areas of responsibility. This includes goal setting, implementation, and problem/issue resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with twelve years of professional experience in an analytics role with project prioritization and management experience and responsibilities to develop and implement system solutions – or five years of management experience and three years of experience leading system-wide analytics projects.  Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Demonstratable experience without a degree will be considered if skill set and experience are robust.
  • Recognized domain expertise in one or more clinical and business domains, with strong familiarity of all aspects of analytic work, technical skills and data processes.
