About the role
Description
Sexton Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Memphis is seeking a skilled and committed Dental and Medical Insurance Claims Specialist to join our team and assist us in delivering exceptional care to our patients.
- Review returned insurance claims and verify correct data elements that will facilitate processing of the claim.
- Work accounts in a thorough and accurate manner.
- Review correspondence, update the patient account record, and ensure the accurate production of claims.
- Review and follow up on insurance accounts with outstanding balances.
- Assess and process all correspondence to include EOB’s for provided accounts claim research on insurance online portals.
- Work denials from the billing clearinghouses such as Change Healthcare, Availity, and Exchange Healthcare.
- Follow up on claim appeals after all other efforts for payment have been exhausted as merited by insurance company.
- Identify and correct billing errors and convey issues to the billing team.
- Review and prepare resubmission of claims for manual and/or electronic billing.
- Print and mail claim forms as necessary for account resolution.
- Promptly answer phones in a courteous and friendly manner following call quality program standards.
- Document discussions from all patient phone calls.
- Process correspondence from patient statements.
- Accurately processes patient payments.
- Communicate payment guidelines and set up recurring patient payments.
- Contact insurance companies and lab companies by phone, fax, and written correspondence to resolve issues preventing claims from being processed correctly.
- Communicate with coding staff to verify claims have been coded correctly.
- Work with lead billing specialist to improve patient accounts.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in Dental and/or Medical Insurance.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality to HIPAA standards.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor and attitude.
- Must be detail oriented in order to maintain accurate records, account balances, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills by conveying information effectively.
- Specialized understanding and experience in handling insurance and billing matters in a medical setting.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to use practice software systems.
