About the role

Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Power Delivery Solutions division. In this role, you will work alongside engineering managers and account managers to provide Project Management Services supporting various electric utility clients. You will oversee a portfolio of electric utility projects, consisting of a blend of Distribution Engineering Projects. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be part of an established Project Management Office (PMO) within our division, responsible for portfolio management, people leadership, and driving special initiatives. Additionally, you will lead larger proposals, manage a team of project managers, and ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering to Leidos' Mission, Vision, and Values. The ideal candidate will have experience with wildfire mitigation and/or storm hardening programs, and be capable of managing high volume projects and coordinating across multiple stakeholders. 

This role is mostly remote in nature, but candidates located near or adjacent to Denver CO, Minneapolis MN, and/or Amarillo TX will be preferred. This allows us to best serve the needs of our localized utility clients. Candidates must be located in the United States to be considered.

As a Senior Project Manager, you can expect to:

  • Lead a team of project managers to deliver comprehensive engineering design projects for electric utility clients
  • Take ownership of overall portfolio performance, including cost, schedule, and scope management
  • Drive strategic initiatives within the PMO organization, focusing on process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Mentor and develop project management staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
  • Interface with clients and internal stakeholders to address issues, report progress, and mitigate risks across the project portfolio
  • Oversee the preparation of bid documents, cost estimates, and responses to Requests For Proposal
  • Manage monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processes
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities to support organizational growth
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality control standards
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, project teams, subcontractors, and support personnel
  • Identify project risks and mitigation strategies
  • Travel locally and regionally as needed (roughly ~15%)

What you'll bring to the table (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or related field required
  • 6+ years of progressive Project Management experience in the electric power industry or associated field
  • Comprehensive understanding of electric power and infrastructure projects
  • Direct experience working with project financials, bid proposals and cost estimates
  • Direct Experience with portfolio management, contract management and risk mitigation
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Workfront, MS Project, P6) and MS Office Suite
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on portfolio management and team development
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel periodically as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within two years
  • Experience with wildfire mitigation and/or storm hardening programs for US based electric utilities
  • Experience working with EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) Contracts
  • Knowledge of distribution line engineering
  • Previous experience working in a consulting environment for US based electric utilities
  • Prior experience in a leadership position
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams
  • Previous experience working in a consulting environment
  • Experience with PowerBI and/or visualization tools
