The work:
The Healthcare Systems Business Analyst will embark on a career with AFS working with a multi-faceted design team on a custom application and Agile delivery project related to healthcare plan management and consumer eligibility and enrollment. As you journey through your career at AFS, you will:
- Become a SME with custom software development, understanding the details of the system and business logic. This entails guiding system design and functional flows, identifying solution options, ensuring system implementation quality. This is your opportunity to analyze production errors and change requests (review designs of the business logic in question, request and analyze data queries, evaluate example application and/or policy documents, and conduct scenario analysis, and document findings and recommendations).

- Gather/confirm/update business requirements, design and contractual deliverables.
- Interact with the client and coordinate with external stakeholders as part of supporting end-to-end system integration.
- Plan requirement meetings (schedule/cadence, prepare materials, facilitate discussion, document discussion / decisions); Ensure that all designs, decisions, issues, meetings are well documented and tracked.
- Plan ticketing approach for sprint work. Create detailed JIRA tickets for analysis work and sprint work, review with client and secure approvals.
- Support developers and testers during sprints (provide overviews of the design changes, participate in story pointing, review test cases, answer questions and make ticket/design updates as necessary).
- Review and polish all presentations and deliverables.
- Mentor team members to get them up to speed on system knowledge and BA responsibilities.
Here's what you need:
- Three years professional work experience with the development and maintenance of large custom software projects with expansive, detailed business logic.
- Must have experience with federal health care eligibility systems.
- Must understand client business needs, gathering and documenting system requirements designs and the understanding of system development lifecycle activities/phases (ideally Agile).
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to include strong notetaking, documentation, and issue tracking experience.
- Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, SharePoint and business process flow diagram tools such as Visio.
Bonus points if you have:
- Bachelors’ degree, concentration in computers, math, science, engineering, economics or other program of study that requires rigorous, methodical analytical and communication skills
- Basic understanding and/or exposure to coding (ie. Java, HTML) via professional work experience or collegiate coursework/bootcamp
