The Wistar Institute has an opening for a Staff Accountant to join the Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting activities while remaining compliant with Institute policies and departmental procedures. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis as well as bank reconciliations. Daily tasks will include cash analysis and checks for bank upload, recording cash receipts, and recording journal entries. Overarching responsibilities will include managing NIH grant accounts cash draws, serving as a petty cash custodian, and assisting with the management of the employee travel system. Shared Facilities at the Institute will look to this individual to manage finances and they will maintain several fixed asset activities.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business-related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Candidates with at least two years of related accounting experience are preferred.

Candidates must have basic knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping. Experience with Microsoft applications including Excel and Word are is required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills.
