Sr. Software Engineer

I. Job Summary
Delivers technical solutions to business requirements. Designs, develops, tests and deploys new software or significant enhancements to existing software. Conducts business and technical requirement analysis and effort estimation. Provides technical expertise implements best practices, standards and assist other team members.  Participates in debugging, delivering fixes and reviewing the deliverables. 

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other ancillary duties may be assigned.  

• Undertakes the complex applications development projects involving multiple disciplines and technologies
• Develops enterprise-level information technology solutions by analyzing, designing, coding, testing, and implementing new and by modifying existing software applications with full competency.
• Coordinates with business analysts and architects in business and technical requirement analysis, effort estimation.
• Articulates design and resolves technical/design conflicts as they occur
• Delivers solution on time, ensuring quality and completeness of the deliverables.
• Identifies opportunities to improve and implements best practices, learnings and improvements.
• Takes ownership, mentors and fosters growth of peers and team members.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities
May coach and mentor less-experienced analysts and act as team leader on systems projects. 

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.  
  
A. Education and Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant experience.  
• Experience: Five (5) years of previous experience (in addition to education requirement).

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

Preferred

• Certification in AWS, Java Big Data or other relevant emerging technologies 

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

Technically advanced knowledge or in-depth skills in one or more of the following is required:

• Cloud Technologies: AWS Services such as Lambda, IAM, S3, EFS, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, CLI,  Kinesis, Glue,  Elasticache, CloudWatch, CloudFormation
• Experience working with Databases like Oracle, SQL, Server, PostgreSQLand NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and Dynamo DB
• Experience with Big Data Technologies like Hadoop, Spark, EMR,
• Proficiency in Python and Java
• Experience working on complex cloud-based software projects, web application development, security and open-source technologies.
• Knowledge of Service Oriented, Microservices, and Event-driven design patterns
• Systems development, implementation, upgrades and analyses QA testing, catalyst or unified business modeling, system design and analysis.
• Knowledge of enterprise coding standards.
• Hands on experience in writing highly complex code.
• Ability to perform code reviews.
• Knowledge of software methodologies and agile development methodologies.
