We are currently looking for an experienced & certified Lead MIG Welder to join our organization.


The Team Leader for the MIG Weld Department is responsible for manual and robotic MIG welding processes and people. This leader needs to effectively supervise and direct people within the department to complete work with the highest possible quality. Needs to be capable of leading a team to efficiently build weldments that meets quality requirements. Day-to-day tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: managing employee behavior, department production, safety, quality, delivery, cost, and 6S for the area.

  • Proven experience in a production environment and team leader role is required. Previous experience in a manufacturing lead role preferred.
  • MIG welding certification and experience is required. This leader will also help weld daily requirements alongside his colleagues.
  • Robotic welding programming will be required (training is available). Must be willing to go through training if the skill set is not developed.
  • Must be comfortable around metal manufacturing and assembly.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and MIG weld certification. Training in robotic weld programming is preferred.

Requirements

  • Meet production and quality goals by effectively managing people (welders), processes, and schedules. Ship product on-time / on-schedule to paint to support on-time orders.
  • Direct people effectively by reviewing workloads at each cell. Keep weld cells running efficiently with little downtime.
  • Actively manage weld shop throughout the day. Create daily schedules / expectations for each area or cell; hold each team member accountable for meeting these daily goals
  • Ensure all associates understand production requirements and inform Production Manager and/or Director of Operations of any barriers to accomplish the goals.
  • Hold associates accountable to quality and efficiency standards.
  • Lead and enforce 6S practices. Audit and sustain 6S results.
  • Manage NCR (non-conforming material) requests. Correct and improve processes.
  • Review training, staffing, and capabilities with Production Manager and execute people plans.
  • Train team members to specifications, work instructions, and quality inspection requirements, or assure team members get training by other qualified individuals, as necessary.
  • Report inventory issues to Purchasing or Production Manager.
  • Lead overtime as necessary.
