Actuarial Analyst

The Actuarial Analyst will analyze and evaluate the likelihood of future events to reduce and manage future financial risks.  The Actuarial Analyst will contribute to product pricing and rate filings for our pet insurance products. They will also provide analysis and innovative solutions, communicating results to help guide decision making.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Completes and interprets actuarial analysis, valuations, cost estimates, and modeling using mathematics, statistical programming, and financial theory.

  • Prepare rate filings, pricing analysis, and experience reports for review.

  • Assists with the completion of rate filing documents for all states.

  • Research rate filings, as needed.

  • Maintains and updates existing models, tools, and other files used for analysis.

  • Completes ad hoc reporting, as necessary.

  • Possess and applies broad knowledge of actuarial principles, practices, and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments.

  • Interprets rate objections and prepare responses and rating support.

  • Interpret rate regulations and apply them appropriately to rating development and support.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics or related field or equivalent work experience

  • 2 years’ relevant experience

  • Proven ability to pass actuarial exams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL, R, or Python is a plus.

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, product details and analysis to both technical and non-technical internal audiences, as well as management.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
