Job Description Summary:

Recruitment Coordinator within the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management supports the growth, visibility, and mission of the Community Health Improvement Program (CHIP) by developing and executing strategies to increase program awareness, enhancing participant enrollment, and building a broad and sustainable referral network. This position works with individuals with intellectual disabilities including Down syndrome, their families, healthcare professionals, and community partners.

The Community Health Improvement Program for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (CHIP-ID), a research initiative within the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management, conducts a growing portfolio of NIH-funded research aimed at improving health, wellness, and quality of life for individuals with intellectual disabilities, with particular emphasis on individuals with Down syndrome. The program integrates research, clinical practice, and training to develop and implement evidence-based strategies that promote health outcomes.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute business development strategies aimed at heightening awareness and increase recruitment to research studies.

  • Support management of the program’s research registry and contact interested participants and family members to facilitate enrollment into research studies.

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with individuals with intellectual disabilities, their families, community organizations, medical groups, and other potential referral channels.

  • Participate in networking events and community outreach initiatives to promote the research program.

  • Create content for social media pages on Instagram and Facebook and maintain program’s website.

  • Develop and deliver persuasive presentations to potential participants, families, and community groups.

  • Coordinate the creation and dissemination of promotional materials, such as flyers and marketing items, to increase awareness and interest in the program.

  • Evaluate and optimize referral strategies through ongoing monitoring and analysis.

  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned by manager and contribute to special projects.

Work Environment

This position requires travel within the Kansas City Metro area and occasional travel throughout the state to visit prospective partners. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Required Qualifications

Work Experience: Four years of relevant work experience. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. 

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in public health, communications, marketing, business administration or related field of study.

Experience:

  • Experience and familiarity with disability resources and organizations within the KC metro and greater Kansas area.

  • Experience in sales and/or marketing tactics, database design and/or management, website management.
