The Role

TripleLift is looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to lead a high-performing team of engineers and drive the technical vision behind our core platform capabilities. This is a leadership role for someone who excels at building and scaling engineering organizations, translating business strategy into technical execution, and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

You'll own the engineering direction for systems that operate at massive scale, with particular emphasis on the real-time auction infrastructure that powers TripleLift's marketplace. You'll partner closely with product, data, and commercial leaders to define what we build and how we build it—and be directly responsible for the growth and effectiveness of the engineers on your team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers across multiple workstreams, establishing clear expectations, career paths, and a culture of high performance
  • Own the technical roadmap for your domain, balancing near-term delivery with long-term architectural integrity
  • Drive the design and evolution of systems supporting real-time auction dynamics—including bid processing, decisioning pipelines, and low-latency infrastructure—ensuring reliability, throughput, and competitive performance at scale
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into well-scoped engineering initiatives with measurable outcomes
  • Set and uphold engineering standards across architecture, code quality, reliability, and operational excellence
  • Identify and address organizational gaps—whether in process, tooling, or talent—and take ownership of resolving them
  • Represent engineering in cross-functional planning and contribute to company-wide technical strategy
  • Attract and retain strong engineering talent; build an inclusive, collaborative team environment

What You Bring

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in engineering leadership roles managing teams of engineers
  • Deep domain expertise in AdTech, ideally with direct experience in programmatic advertising, real-time bidding (RTB), or auction-based systems
  • Strong grasp of distributed systems, low-latency architecture, and the trade-offs involved in building for scale and reliability
  • Demonstrated ability to develop engineering talent and build high-functioning teams
  • Track record of driving complex, cross-functional technical initiatives from conception through delivery
  • Clear, direct communicator who can engage credibly with both engineers and executive stakeholders
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with a bias toward action
