The Senior Health & Safety Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a safety culture within Site location. This person will aid in the development and execution of the safety and security protocols for the plant, focusing on continuous improvement of safety policies and procedures, injury prevention, safety management, plant security, crisis management, and compliance with OSHA regulations. This position focuses on implementing and overseeing effective health and safety protocols and practices within the organization. The Sr. Health and Safety Coordinator recommends process improvements to enhance workplace safety, provides project leadership in implementing safety initiatives, and oversees metrics to monitor trends and measure performance against key health and safety indicators.
- Provides executional support to ensure the implementation of health and safety initiatives that align with the organization's safety culture and goals.
- Works closely with plant leadership team and HR Business Partner to promote a continuous improvement mindset and foster engagement among employees in relation to health and safety practices.
- Conduct safety audits, including rack inspections, and aid in the closure of audit findings' root cause corrective action within the required timeframe.
- Oversees and advises people leaders and employees on complex health and safety issues, including managing corrective action processes and attendance management.
- Collaborates with the leadership team to improve turnover and retention rates by implementing effective health and safety strategies.
- Verify external contractors' safety training and certification and carry out worksite audits.
- Maintain the HACCP and/or OSHA program to ensure adherence to company, regulatory, and/or customer food safety requirements, including compliance with established procedures, documentation completion, and annual reviews.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track safety and operational performance.
- Conduct training on Food Safety, Health, and Safety for management and staff.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision on projects within teams.
After training is completed, this person would work a flex shift. Ideally, Sunday – Thursday weekly schedule with a combination of days and nights (half shift days / half shift nights).
ADDITIONAL ROLES
- Supports HR Specialists in handling health and safety-related issues as needed.
- May receive calls outside the regular working hours in the event of an accident or severe injury

- Compliance Regulation
- Reduced incident Rate: by implementing safety programs.
- Training effectiveness: Completion rate and assessments of employee safety knowledge and understanding.
- Continued improvements based on incident investigations, hazard assessments, and employee feedback.
QUALIFICATIONS / KEY SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:
The ability to work with and influence others to cultivate a positive safety culture. Able to create written safety procedures such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Lock Out procedures, Safety Policies, and Standard Work. The ability to deal with and develop a plan in an ambiguous environment is key. Experience in training and facilitating is a plus. Strong oral communication. Able to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations. Listens and gets clarification. Responds appropriately to questions. Participate in meetings. Able to talk to large groups of people and provide practical training.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of qualification and experience
- 3-6 years of Safety experience
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Experience developing and facilitating training programs and protocol
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Professional certification is desired
