About the role

Description

The Trucking Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day functions of Knight’s Trucking. This includes promoting a safe and positive work environment for employees, assisting with any equipment concerns to ensure our trucks are in good working order, and contributing to the success of Knight’s Companies. The Trucking Supervisor coordinates the efficient delivery of products, promotes the safe operation of company equipment, and strives to provide a high level of customer service for both internal and external customers. This team member should continuously strive to achieve a balance between providing a high level of customer service and operating the company’s resources as efficiently as possible.


Essential Functions:

  • Perform all job duties in accordance with company safety and environmental policies and procedures without exception.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures. 
  • Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures; issue and document corrective counseling and/or discipline as needed.
  • Coordinate with Recruiting to identify, interview, and on-board new drivers.
  • Foster an environment to ensure we are retaining quality talent and staying ahead of business needs.
  • Communicate with drivers regularly throughout the day to ensure that load counts are met and provide support when needed.
  • Communicate with Shop personnel to coordinate needed truck repairs and periodic maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot route issues, scheduling issues, and other issues as they arise to produce the best outcome possible.
  • Leverage the various systems and KPI’s to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Review and approve driver timecards weekly.
  • Perform periodic and annual driver performance reviews.
  • Support regular reporting to accounting for fuel usage (IFTA) and other requests.
  • Identify safety issues and coordinate with the Safety Department to determine corrections needed.
  • Prepare and perform monthly safety meetings in accordance with company policy.
  • Attend company-provided and/or company-sponsored training classes as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year related experience in the transportation industry. Exposure to planning, dispatch, and driver management highly desired.
  • Current CDL, current medical card, and clean driving record preferred, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of the (3) markets we service (Midlands SC, Lowcountry SC, Savannah GA).
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency to get things done in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to properly assess and prioritize urgent and competing priorities.
  • Ability to evaluate existing processes to identify, and potentially implement improvements.
  • Excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including early mornings and weekends.


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to maintain medical certification in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather, as needed.
  • Ability to perform direct keyboard entry operations for long, extended periods of time.
