Shift: Shift: 12 hour rotating shift (5:45AM-6PM) Scheduled to work 7-days in a 14-day period (2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off - every other weekend is scheduled off)
The Back Up Line Mechanic reports directly to the department shift Operations Leader. The Back Up Line Mechanic Role is the entry level position into Maintenance Career Ladder progression.
RESPONSIBILITES
1. First responders to minor machine issues, called by line leads or other operators.
2. Communicate escalation properly per escalation guidelines.
3. Respond and repair simple machine issues. (gripper replacements, sensors or cables, air fittings)
4. Be present with EMs and Mechanics during line down situations, both for learning opportunities and to be of assistance when needed.
5. Train operators on proper work procedures and basic machine functions and HMI navigation.
6. Active involvement during PMs, partnering with machine operators to work on DTM activities.
7. Attend maintenance meetings, both startup and additional during shifts (as permitted).
8. Attend training sessions planned by EMs and Mechanics (as permitted).
9. Assist in filling out department communication boards and provide shift reports for crossover.
10. Perform pallet maintenance during downtime or when other duties allow.
11. Ensure Line Upkeep Maintenance and Cleanliness (LUMAC) compliance throughout the line.
12. Generate Red Tags when machine abnormalities are identified and assist with repairs as authorized.
13. Active progress toward M1 skill level.
DELIVERABLES
1. Advanced operator with mechanical skills who operates equipment to meet production needs.
2. Respond and support operators with general machine operation functions.
3. Actively participate in the repair of the line under the direction of appropriate maintenance personnel.
4. Capable of understanding production bottlenecks, scrap management, equipment availability, and production volume metrics.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED preferred
1-2 years’ experience working in a highly automated manufacturing environment preferred
Successful completion of multiple operator zone certifications on an assembly line
Mechanical aptitude
WORK ENVIRONMENT & ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS
The incumbent may be frequently required to stand and/or occasionally sit for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping, and reaching are also frequently required. While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to episodes of walking, kneeling, balancing, crouching, pushing/pulling, repetitive grasping, hearing, twisting, lifting, frequent use of hand to finger, handle, feel, pick or type which can include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers.
The incumbent may be exposed to noise levels in the work environment moderate to loud.
The incumbent must be willing and able to wear required PPE such as, safety glasses, face mask and/or shield, hearing protection, safety shoes, hair and beard net and smock.
This position is in a clean room environment and the physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The incumbent may occasionally be required to climb.
The incumbent may occasionally be required to lift to 20 lbs., frequently lift up to 10 lbs., occasionally pulling/pushing up to 30 lbs., frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs., frequently carry up to 5 lbs.
The position will almost always have exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment, and potential temperature fluctuations.
