Reporting to the Safety Health and Environmental Manager, the Senior Environmental Engineer is responsible for developing and continually improving the plant environmental management system and culture.  This will be an on-site role at the Borger Nitrogen Operation and is not available for remote work.  The successful candidate must be able to relocate to Borger, Texas.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for all air permits, including Title V Operating, New Source Review, Prevention of Significant Deterioration, and Permit by Rules
  • Prepare and submit reports including Title V Deviation, New Source Performance Standards, Air Emissions Inventory, Green House Gas Part 98, Toxic Release Inventory, and Toxic Substances Control Act
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Project Engineering to mitigate environmental risk
  • Maintain plant Risk Management Plan in close partnership with Process Safety Team
  • Mentor colleagues within the SH&E team and across the plant on environmental best practices
  • Serve as task force leader for air environmental program development, monitoring, and metrics
  • Establish systems to proactively manage risk, increase efficiency, and continually improve performance
  • Stay abreast of all air, water, and waste related federal, state, and local regulations, monitor for regulatory change, assess site applicability, and develop mitigation measures
  • Lead environmental incident management processes including regulatory release reporting determinations, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Serve as a liaison with external regulatory agencies and support regulatory inspections
  • Assess regulatory and permit applicability for site projects including equipment upgrades and expansions

 

What You Will Bring:

  • Degree in chemical, environmental, mechanical engineering, or related education in physical sciences, environmental science, or equivalent experience, technology or degree 
  • 7+ years’ experience in manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, or chemicals sector
  • Experience in air permitting and Title V air permit compliance
  • Texas air permitting and regulatory programs
  • Familiar with continual improvement processes and risk-based environmental management (e.g. ISO 14001)

Additional Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • Organizational skills to enable timely monitoring and response of environmental key performance indicators
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple complex assignments with direct implications to the business
  • Must be highly self-driven, with the ability to excel autonomously and in a team
  • Highly proficient with computer applications including excel and online reporting platforms
