Job Description
The Paramedic Lead supervises their assigned EMS crews, orders and maintains supplies, assures Quality Control of EMS services, and provides general support to the EMS Manager and Deputy Manager.
In addition to their supervisory duties, the Paramedic Lead will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct and indirect medical care to patients in emergent situations. She/ he will competently function as a member of the team to provide patient-centered medical care in the pre-hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises Paramedics (EMT-Ps) and EMT-Bs throughout the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
- Provides management and oversight in one of four functional areas: Training, Quality Assurance, Supply/Logistics, and Safety.
- Assists EMS Deputy Manager with day-to-day operations.
- Manages the on-the-ground orientation and on-the-job training program for all newly hired personnel
- Supports the professional development program for all personnel under the direction of the EMS Manager and Deputy Manager, and in coordination with the Training Officer.
- Responsible for Special Projects as assigned by the EMS Manager or EMS Deputy Manager.
- Maintains vehicles, equipment, tools, and protective clothing in a serviceable, ready-response condition.
- Responds to emergencies as required. Administers medical services for patient care within the scope of their training.
- Responsible for creating, maintaining, and addressing issues regarding shift schedules.
- Conducts recurrent proficiency training and OJT.
- Evaluates medical skills and abilities of assigned EMS staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the EMS Manager or EMS Deputy Manager.
- Arranges transportation for employees to and from work.
- Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to lead and supervise a small team.
- Ability to assess and treat adult and pediatric patients in pre-hospital setting.
- Ability to successfully perform ALS interventions in accordance with protocols.
- Ability to administer medication in adult and pediatric patients in accordance with protocols.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong clinical acumen.
- Proficient IT skills, including use of electronic medical records systems.
- Ability to function with accuracy and efficiency in high-pressure or emergent situations.
- Ability to respond calmly in emergency situations.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness, with the willingness to work with a foreign national patient population.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively work with persons of diverse ages and economic backgrounds in a culturally competent manner.
- Must be able to manage and provide concise directions to supporting staff.
