Our Purpose

Medtronic Diabetes is establishing a manufacturing footprint with contract manufacturers in Ireland for CGMs and Pumps. Given the criticality of these partnerships we are currently building our Product Innovation and Operations team for Ireland.

This team is partnering closely with our suppliers to set us up for success in both our current and next generation wearables. In this role you will work closely with your Diabetes Innovation and Operations peers and our contract manufacturers to bring life changing new technologies to market thus improving the lives of people living with Diabetes

The Senior High Volume Automation Process Development Engineering Manager for Automation will be responsible for the development, installation and support of High-Volume Automated manufacturing systems while engaging with partners in R&D to develop new products for automation.

A Day in The Life Of:

• Defines and executes deliverables in the development of processes for fully automated manufacturing platforms.
• Engages with Product Design and Automation teams early in the process to ensure Design for Automation is implemented.
• Ensure process design capabilities by means of comprehensive technical reviews, physical and simulated testing, and robust documentation.
• Working with internal and external partners to develop processes, associated tooling, platform prototypes, and demonstrate manufacturing capability.
• Responsible for team's professional development to promote engagement, growth, job satisfaction and organizational health.
• Collaborate across Medtronic to ensure best practices are employed in product, process and tooling design and development.
• Manages relations with equipment suppliers to ensure effective equipment design and on-time delivery.
• Identifies, plans, and maintains resource needs, cost centre budget, employee assignment, and staffing decisions.
• Ensures engineering approach and designs conform to applicable industry standards and Medtronic procedures.
• Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing manufacturing process technologies.
• Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines or processes.
• Participates in the development of new product concepts from initial design to market release.
• Manages feasibility studies of new processes to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
• Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of process and tooling development.
• Travels, sometimes for extended periods, to international and domestic destinations for equipment development.
• Works, manages and engages remotely with multidisciplinary teams across multiple time zones and geographies. 

Key Skills & Experience 

• Level 8 Honors Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant degree is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience
• 10+ years' experience in development, transfer, implementing and managing of high-volume (+12M), electromechanical automated assembly systems.
• Strong problem-solving, risk assessment, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills.
• Able to travel 25% or more of the time, as required to accomplish business goals.
