Senior Software Engineer

Near is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Engineering team. You will be responsible for development and maintenance of core back-end systems for Near's cutting edge location intelligence platform. You will work to constantly improve the features, reliability, and cost of systems ranging from large scale, offline processing pipelines to real time APIs supporting interactive analytics. You will help increase the productivity of other developers by improving the reliability and ease of use of key infrastructure components.

A Day in the Life:

• Build, improve, and maintain back-end systems to support multiple business areas
• Work with data science, product management, and other teams to constantly improve our products and adapt to new customer needs

What you bring to the role:

• BSc in Computer Science or related field
• 12-15 years professional software engineering experience
• Proficient in Java, C++, and/or Python
• Expert in building reliable, performant distributed systems
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong CS fundamentals
• Proficient with shell scripting, basic Unix command-line tools, git, Docker
• Familiar with distributed data processing platforms such as Apache Spark
• Familiarity with GIS concepts and tools a plus
• Proficiency in Scala is a plus
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure a plus
• Proficient in Relational Database Management Systems (any database)

Compensation:

• $160,000 - 180,000 base salary + bonus + RSUs
