JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, provide and ensure all department’s operational support during production processing. Validate compliance to product specifications and adherence to GMP’s through routine and advanced chemical analyses on juices, wines, Spirits, and other Company products. Communicate with and provide feedback to production team members to facilitate process improvement. This position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Learn and follow all laboratory work instructions and safety procedures.
• Standardize equipment as needed and ensure it is working properly.
• Perform accurate routine and advanced chemical and physical analysis on wines, juices, concentrations and other company products.
• Prepare reagents and standard solutions.
• Prepare, maintain, and distribute required reports and records.
• Perform microbiological procedures in a competent and effective manner.
• Contribute to producing quality products by completing assignments in a safe, efficient and valuable manner.
• Assist the research and development department by providing support as needed.
• Sample tanks and barrels for analysis.
• Maintain lab cleanliness and a safe, sanitary working environment.
• Promote teamwork among the lab staff and all winery personnel.
• Assist with analytical lab duties as instructed by Supervisor or Manager
• Compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
• Work off shifts and overtime as assigned.
• Work with supervisors to develop, learn and strengthen skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 0 – 5 years’ Lab experience.
• Strong knowledge of analytical procedures.
• Strong knowledge of mathematics.
• Experience in computer applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
• Associate’s degree in food science, Chemistry or related field preferred.
• Understanding microbiological analyses.
• Familiarity with JDE/SAP, Access, Interlex and Intellepac.
• Knowledge of various wine types.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to precisely follow directions.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work various shifts as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Repeatedly ascend/descend stairs and ladders at heights of 40’ and higher (if applicable).
• Work with hazardous materials requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, eye and face protection, and chemical-resistant coverings.
• Must be able to pass a fit test and medical clearance to utilize a variety of personal respirators for chemical protection. Employees required to wear respirators must remain clean-shaven while working to ensure proper respirator fit, per company policy.
• Safely work around and operate mechanical equipment and tools.
• Move objects in and around an industrial tank storage and transfer environment, with weights up to 60 pounds at varying frequencies.
• Stand or remain in a stationary position for long periods of time when required.
• Constantly position self to operate production machinery necessary to perform work-related tasks.
• Operate machinery used to inspect and analyze products in laboratory and production environments for extended periods.
• Operate an office workstation and other office equipment (e.g., computer screen, keyboard, mouse, copier, printer) for extended periods.
• Constantly position self to operate office equipment necessary to perform work-related tasks.
• Move objects such as packages, copy paper, and cases of wine.
• Frequently move, transport, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds at varying freque
