Reports to: Executive Director

Works close with: Membership, Professional Development, Teacher Education, Accreditation, Marketing & Communications, and Events teams

Classification: Full-time FTE (1.0), Regular, Exempt

Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000

Designation: Remote working in the Eastern Time Zone. Position involves work-related travel in the United States 2-4 times per year including the Annual Conference

Employee must reside in one of the following states: Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, and Texas

Job Description

Montessori Learning, Research & Innovation Team Overview

AMS is launching a new Montessori Learning, Research & Innovation Team housed in the Office of the Executive Director. This dynamic team will play a key role in advancing AMS’s mission by supporting special projects and strategic initiatives, ensuring the quality and integrity of Montessori practices across all AMS programs, and serving as internal thought leaders by offering Montessori-based insights and expertise.

While each Manager on this team will lead a distinct area of work—Learning & Research, Learning & Innovation, and Learning & Content Development—the team's success will be rooted in deep collaboration and collective ownership of key deliverables. Together, they will:

  • Design and guide high-impact initiatives that reflect best practices in Montessori education;

  • Ensure alignment with AMS standards and goals;

  • Collaborate across departments to infuse Montessori principles into organizational strategies, programming, communications, and educator supports.

Each manager will bring unique expertise and leadership to their respective areas—research and scholarship, innovative educator engagement, and curriculum/content development—while working in close coordination to drive meaningful, mission-aligned outcomes for the AMS community.

Manager of Montessori Learning & Innovation Key Responsibilities

General:

  • Support the Executive Director with special projects and initiatives.

  • Ensure the quality and integrity of Montessori practices across all AMS programs.

  • Serve as a Montessori thought partner, providing Montessori-based insights to internal teams. 

  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance TEP and school quality and alignment
